During the 1920s, Prohibition was the law of the land. Woods Hole was part of a smuggling triangle that included Martha's Vineyard and New Bedford. Woods Hole was also home to the Coast Guard base in charge of keeping the seas clean of "rummies". Standing on Nobska Point, below the lighthouse, looking across the water at Martha's Vineyard, imagine the days of prohibition.
