Annemarie Mahler

I have been spending summers in Woods Hole since 1960 when my late husband Henry Mahler started to work in the summer lab. We built a house in 1965 at 15 Lawrence Farm Road and in the thirty years he has been gone I have come there by myself to paint and write and see friends.

I was born in Vienna, Austria in 1926 (where my husband whom I met at UC Berkley was born five years earlier). My academic work is about as far removed from Henry's molecular biology as possible - literature, architecture and art of the Middle Ages in western Europe starting with the early Christian period and going to just about the year 1400.
