Spritsail is the biannual journal of the history of Falmouth and vicinity published by the Woods Hole Historical Museum. In recent issues there have been articles about the history of the Portuguese community in Falmouth, about a ceramic block silo built in 1921 that is still standing in the Hatchville section of Falmouth, and about the renovation of the Katharine Lee Bates house. Born in Falmouth, Katharine Lee Bates was a poet and English professor and wrote the lyrics to “America the Beautiful.”
